Dr. Kunwar Pal is a Scientist-C at Thermochemical Conversion of Biomass Division at Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Bio Energy Kapurthala.He earned his PhD from Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT Jalandhar in July 2019 on “Studies on Performance of Biomass Cookstoves using Exergy Approach” carried out at Thermochemical Conversion Division, SSS-National Institute of Bio-Energy Kapurthala (Punjab) where he served as senior research fellow for four years after awarded by Bioenergy Promotion Fellowship 2013 by MNRE New Delhi. He also served as Assistant Professor for more than three years in the Department of Chemical Engineering, PKG College of Engineering & Technology Panipat (Affiliated to Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra). He has been awarded as National Post Doctoral Fellow in 2020 by Science and Engineering Research Board New Delhi. He joined the Prof. K. K. Pant’s Catalytic Reaction Engineering group at IIT Delhi in February 2021 as a SERB National Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the Gasification of solid recovered fuel for the production of hydrogen.

Has research and professional interests in renewable energy technologies, bioenergy, climate change, greenhouse gas mitigation, sustainable development and economic empowerment. Has a good knowledge and experience in CFD simulations for thermal performance enhancement of biomass-based combustion devices.
